Production Process

 

 

  1. roducing low-carbon SiMn requires an additional refining step. We first produce a standard high-carbon SiMn melt.
  2. This molten alloy is then transferred to a separate vessel where it is treated with silica-based slag and oxygen in a process similar to silicothermic reduction.
  3. This "refining" stage selectively oxidizes and removes carbon without significantly reducing the valuable manganese and silicon content.
