Silicon Products Remain Weak, Tungsten Molybdenum Vanadium Titanium Show Steady Gains

Recently, the domestic ferroalloy and minor metals market has shown a mixed performance. Silicon-based products continue to face downward pressure due to weak demand, while tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, and titanium products remain stable or have risen slightly.

Weakness Persists in Silicon Marke

The industrial silicon market remains sluggish, with Tianjin Port 553# silicon (non-oxygen) prices around USD 1,292–1,306/ton (originally 9,300–9,400 RMB/ton), and chemical-grade 421# silicon priced between USD 1,347–1,403/ton (originally 9,700–10,100 RMB/ton). Operating rates in Southwest China continue to decline, with Yunnan's rate below 10%. Purchasing from polysilicon and organic silicon manufacturers is mainly for immediate needs, while aluminum-silicon alloy producers show weak procurement interest. The industrial silicon market is expected to remain soft in the short term.

In the ferrosilicon market, the weekly average price of natural lump ferrosilicon in Ningxia is around USD 771/ton (originally 5,550 RMB/ton). Although HeSteel Group's January tender price increased slightly month-on-month, steel mills continue to negotiate lower prices, and overall market activity remains subdued. Ferrosilicon producers' profitability has not improved significantly, and the market is expected to stay weak in the near term.

Steady Gains in Tungsten, Molybdenum, Vanadium, and Titaniu

Tungsten product prices continue to rise, with black tungsten concentrate (65%) quoted at USD 65,000–65,278/ton (originally 468,200–470,200 RMB/ton). Ammonium paratungstate and tungsten carbide prices also increased. Molybdenum products remain stable, while vanadium products such as vanadium iron and vanadium pentoxide show slight gains. Titanium products including titanium concentrate and sponge titanium remain stable, with balanced supply and demand.

Market Outloo

The current ferroalloy market shows a "silicon weak, tungsten strong" pattern. Downstream demand recovery is slow, and buyers remain cautious. Silicon-based products are expected to stay under pressure in the short term, while some minor metals may remain firm due to tight supply and cost support.
