Why use desulfurizer?
Sulfur is one of the active non-metallic elements, is mostly present in most steel inthe form of sulfides, and will reduce the processing and use properties of steel,which can cause hot brittleness of steel and adversely affect to the mechanicalproperties of steel, and reduce the weldability of the steel.
The general steel gradesrequire sulfur content lower than 0.03% high-quality steel grades require much lowersulfur content, and ultra-low sulfur steels require sulfur content lower than 0.0005%.

Manufacturing Process
- Desulfurization in modern steel production is mainly in the hot metal pretreatmentdesulfurization and molten steel secondary refining stages desulfurization
- The hotmetal pretreatment desulfurization section hot metal pretreatment refers to thetreatment process of desulfurization or desiliconization and dephosphorizationbefore the molten iron put into the steelmaking furnace,
- Because the whole processof converter steelmaking is an oxidizing atmosphere, the desulfurization efficiency isjust 30% to 40%;
- but in the molten iron, there are saturated carbon elements, andmore elements such as silicon, manganese, phosphorus, aluminum and so on,
- so theactivity of the sulfur element is 3 to 4 times greater than that in the molten steel.
- The desulfurization in the molten iron is more favorable than the desulfurization in the molten steel, and the cost for desulfurization in molten iron is also lower.
- Desulphurization of hot metal can meet the requirements of smelting low- sulfursteel and ultra-low-sulfur steel. At the same time, put the desulfurization work ofblast furnace iron liquid outside of the furnace, which can not only relax thelimitation on the sulfur content ofiron ore and coke, but also can save a lot of coke.
